How to Screen a Prospective Sitter

Parents should screen a prospective caregiver before actually taking the time to interview them. The screening process involves several steps. First, they conduct a search and select an individual that they feel closely meets their requirements. The next step is to email the candidate with a list of "deal breaker" requirements. These are specific requirements for the job that a parent is not able compromise on (i.e. give children a bath, walk the dog, etc.). Once the prospective caregiver has agreed to those requirements, an over the phone or in person interview can be set up. Unfortunately, parents waste valuable time interviewing a person who is not a good fit for their family. The screening process can help parents avoid wasting their time and the caregiver's.
